Slow Art Asia 2020

11 Contemporary Asian Artists

February 8 - August 29, 2020

The exhibition “Slow Art Asia 2020” encourages audiences to fully experience the works of eleven process-driven contemporary Asian artists. Just in time for Asian Art Week and NYC’s annual spring festivities, the exhibition is here to celebrate Asian artists and artworks and to embrace Asian culture in 2020.

Masters of various unique mediums (think: paintings are done with mineral pigments or charcoal, and sculptures made of ceramics or tape!), each featured artist works with extremely labor-intensive processes that embrace the Asian roots of both their artforms and themselves.

Waterfall has created a precious opportunity for audiences to examine not only the tangible layers that make up a work of art but also the more conceptual layers it takes to create the final piece. After observing, viewers are urged to listen to the process behind each work and discuss their experiences and perceptions in order to dissect and unfold the invisible layers of time, process, and histories of each work.

By supporting the slow art movement in this exhibition, which encourages viewers to engage with a single artwork for at least 10 minutes, viewers will deepen their understanding of the artists and their artworks in a manner that will transform the perspectives of their lives.
