NEW YORK, SUNRISE 2020

LUCA ARTIOLI

August 1, 2020 - January 30, 2021

As part of Healing Campaign, Waterfall Arts Foundation with Artist Luca Artioli, have organized a special exhibition "Impressions of New York (2012-2019) : New York, Sunrise 2020". We invite you to visit our special exhibition and be reminded of the essence of the beauty of our city.

These collection of photos of New York are inspired by the work of the French impressionist painter Claude Monet (1840-1926). The name of the show recall the Monet's painting: "Impression, Sunrise", what would become known as the "Exhibition of the Impressionists" in Paris in April, 1874. The painting is credited with inspiring the name of the Impressionist movement.

All the photos are taken using the ICM technique (Intentional Camera Movement) that with long exposures and movements of the camera, helps to create a pictorial effect and allure without using photoshop. The photos have been taken in New York from 2012 to 2019. Seven years of study of New York City taken in all the four seasons. Luca tries to touch the inner soul and power of NYC and “paints" it with his camera its infinite lights.

This work represent today and it is a work of hope and renaissance for a city dramatically bitten by COVID 19.

Take away the ash that covers my body,
Push it aside with your hand,
Don't be afraid,
You'll find a new soul ready to shine
